Find New Business During Summer Moves
The long days of summer are abuzz with people relocating to new homes, new businesses and new communities. These new residents provide a wealth of opportunities for small and large businesses alike, from phone companies and banks to drycleaners and bakeries.
According to the Direct Marketing Association, 52 percent of movers spend money on consumer electronics in the first 30 days after a move. Those same people are also snatching up goods to decorate their homes, clothe their children and fill up their refrigerators. Regardless of what business you are in, you want to take advantage of this fertile source of potential revenue.
So, how do you find these new residents and businesses? Here are a few data sources to tap into:
1. Change-of-address/change-of-service information. The U.S. Postal Service and local utilities have a list of people who have recently moved.
2. Deed/home loan information. Real estate transactions are a matter of public record. This information includes the purchase date, purchase amount and loan amount.
3. Fee or subscription-based data sources, such as newhomedata.net, which automatically sends leads on homeowners who meet your criteria each month. Others include brandnewhomeowners.com and listgiant.com.
Once you find these potential customers, it’s OK to send them a postcard to let them know you exist, but it’s a method that can easily be overlooked. A postcard that features a generous coupon, however, may perk up the interest of a weary new resident who would like to save a few bucks. Or send a nicely designed card that includes testimonials from other clients in the neighborhood who have used your service or product in the past.
In this competitive marketplace, you have to ferret out the people new to a neighborhood or community early on. Let them know you can offer them what they need right now --- before the competition finds them. And if you need help with marketing plans of ideas, contact us here at Insty-Prints. We can help.
